How To Treat Acid Reflux
- posted: Aug. 05, 2021
Are you feeling the burn a little too often without acid reflux? If you're finally fed up and want to put out the fire for good, it's time to ditch the antacids and treat them correctly at their root cause.
When people suffer from acid reflux, they may think they can treat it with antacids or over-the-counter PPIs. While these may treat the discomfort of the heartburn, as soon as they stop taking the pills, the pain and burning return. They realize that they aren't treating it at all. But the truth is taking these pills, even though they are over-the-counter can do more harm than good to your gut health.
On top of that, they won't heal your acid reflux and can allow bacterial overgrowth to take root and cause more serious issues. When people don't have sufficient stomach acid, food can sit in the stomach and ferment causing gas and discomfort.
Not having enough stomach acid can also cause gut dysbiosis like SIBO, or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth where bacteria can find their way to the small intestine where it doesn't belong.
