Having trouble losing that stubborn fat? Are you exercising more and eating less and less calories and still not seeing that scale budge? Do you feel totally frustrated and feel like just giving up? In this video, I'm going to share three little known facts that are keeping you from releasing your weight.
The conventional approach and wisdom is calories in versus calories burned. But we know that isn't the truth. Otherwise, everyone would have an easy time losing weight and keeping it off.
People blame stumbled weight on thyroid imbalances which isn't always the case. Your doctor may have tested your thyroid and reported that your thyroid stats are fine and you still continue to gain.
There are several reasons why having so much trouble losing weight and it's not just because you're getting older.
One of the main factors involved with waking has to do with stress. People really underestimate stress and its biological impact on your body. Stress activates the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal, or HPA axis, which initiates the release of powerful hormones and neurotransmitters to prepare the body to fight. The higher cortisol levels, the more fat is stored.
Stress can also impact your sleep, which can mess with your hunger hormones. Lack of proper sleep can also trigger more stress hormones and more inflammation, creating a cycle of feeling more and more stressed.
Sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone all play a role in weight loss and weight gain. This can be especially frustrating for pre menopausal or menopausal women because hormonal imbalances are a hallmark of these life stages.
Estrogen helps regulate metabolism and energy. So when there is a rapid decline in estrogen levels, as there is with menopause, there is a corresponding reduction in metabolism and energy balance that can lead to weight gain.
Therefore, menopausal women who are trying to lose weight will likely benefit from strategies to boost metabolism including diet, exercise, and certain dietary supplementation.
