What's The Real Cause Of Stubborn Weight (AND why intermittent fasting is not the answer)

  

Intermittent fasting is when you restrict the number of hours you eat ---say eating for a window of 6 hours and fasting 18--flips the switch for a few healing mechanisms in the body.

It works well because it activates your internal repair mechanisms called autophagy which also boosts your immunity and repairs cells. It also works for weight loss because it helps to stabilize your insulin as well as helping you avoid continuous snacking that can cause blood sugar swings

But what is going on when you practice intermittent fasting and you haven’t seen results?

Here are some of the reasons why intermittent fasting may not deliver on its promise. 

  • You have an undiagnosed food sensitivity or many sensitivities that keep your body constantly inflamed. And because you’re unaware of the issues, you keep eating the food (even during your intermittent fasting eating window). 

  • These sensitivities may also cause insulin spikes as well as sabotage your gut health -- putting your body in an internal “red zone” -- making it impossible to release weight. This can also sabotage your energy and sleep patterns.

  • You have a serious toxic overload in your body from harmful chemicals or a stealth infection that has “reactivated”. This creates the same inflammatory state for your body, making it hard to rebalance and drop those pounds.

  • Your body may be on “high alert” from an excess of stress hormones coursing through your blood and your adrenals may be in constant overdrive. This happens to people who can’t bounce back from chronic stress and this signals the body that it’s not “safe” to release weight because you are constantly in fight or flight mode.

In my practice, we do food sensitivity testing and also offer a comprehensive stool test to evaluate many of the issues I already mentioned here. That way, we can see which type of diet and fasting would work better for you-- based on your unique needs.
